Topo vs. The Orchestra of Doom? With Tusky and Zook looking on? I'd buy that for a dollar!

Also, I just found your comment on Steel and Justice League Detroit from the 18th, and I figure like my Fate comment, you'd assume it missed forever. So, fresh delivery to your door...

"I started reading Steel #1 the other day, on the john, but only made it as far as the introduction of his nemesis (5-8 pages in.) I'll get back to it, but so far, not so good.

As for the early going in Detroit, I'm of two minds. There are far worse Justice League comics out there, and if you have a genuine interest in the characters, they're not so bad. Certainly the series improved greatly thanks to the tonal shift when Luke McDonnell came on board. I guess what I'm saying is if you read the synopsis and it catches your interest, don't let my snark dissuade you. Otherwise, well, you you know what you're getting..."

Frank -- Interesting. The only issue of Steel I have is #2, where he fights the Mineral Master, and I rally enjoyed that one. I am going to order the other issues at some point in the near future from one of my online sources, so maybe we can compare notes afterwards.

My problem as a reviewer is that I tend not to be harsh enough when reading. If a story entertains me, I'm usually willing to look past its shortcomings... this makes me somewhat odd on the comics "blogosphere" scene. And I guess I'm not that hard to entertain!

Adama -- That's awesome.

It's like that movie "Unbreakable," where if there's someone on the internet like you without any sort of harsh critical barometer beyond a set entertainment threshold, there must be born someone like me who can savage the rare books I actually like better than its harshest detractors.

The only downside to internet acquaintenceships is that I can't just give you my copy of Steel: The Indestructable Man #1 once I finish it and pick it up off the bathroom scale it rests on until my next "reading time." Hey, don't look at me like that. It's got a comic bag & board covering it, and I don't handle it after my hands are sullied...
