What Looks Good?

It's been cold and rainy this week in South Carolina.  So curl up with some good comics and stay indoors!

Dong Xoai, Vietnam -- I passed on this Kubert graphic novel as a hardcover, but as a trade paperback this is looking good.

Justice League of America #57 -- Eclipso is running roughshod over the JLA and things are only getting worse.

Outsiders #39 -- The end is near!  The end is near!

Tiny Titans #40 -- The cuteness is near!  The cuteness is near!

GI Joe: A Real American Hero #166 -- What new plan does Cobra Commander and his band of snakes have in store for the world?

Invincible Iron Man #504 -- You know what I fear?  Summer events I have no interest in.

Darkwing Duck #12 -- Can Darkwing escape from the clutches of F.O.W.L.?

So, what looks good to you?

I bought JLA, but haven't had a chance to read it yet. I love me some Eclipso, so I'm looking forward to it.

Dude! Alpha Flight .1 was so good! I'm a huge Alpha Flight junkie, so I was already excited about this book. However, given their spotty history, I wasn't holding my breath for an awesome comic. Well... it was awesome! Can't wait for more!

Also, Matt Sturges "Doctor Who: A Fairytale Life" #2 of 4 was really good. He's nailed Amy's "voice" perfectly. Fun read.

I really liked Alpha Flight v.2, but have not been able to get into the Flight outside of that. The last few relaunches and their sacrificial lamb status in that New Avengers storyline have really seemed to damage them as a concept. Plus Marvel seems disinterested in letting a book of this caliber go more than a year, unfortunately.

Apparently this one is a mini-series (8 or 12 issues, I don't recall). They really are handling this book like it's a big event. I think they want to give Alpha Flight a real try. If it works, maybe we'll get an ongoing.

The team felt more like a superhero team, and less like their continuity-clogged previous adventures. I'm in favor of this approach!
